Frequently Asked Questions

What does a travel advisor do?

A travel advisor helps plan and organize your trip by offering guidance, recommendations, and insight based on experience. At Magically Designed Vacations, we help you sort through options, understand what matters most, and make choices that fit your travel goals and style.

Why should I book with you instead of on my own?

Our goal is to make the planning process feel clear and manageable, so you can focus on making memories with your family. When you book with Magically Designed Vacations, your reservation is made directly with the travel supplier, with guidance and support from your travel advisor. We take the time to get to know you and your preferences, so recommendations feel thoughtful and personal. If questions come up, you can reach out directly to your travel advisor, who knows your trip and your travel style.

What types of trips do you plan?

We plan a wide range of travel, including ocean and river cruises, all-inclusive resorts, guided vacations within and outside the U.S., family travel, and adults-only trips. Our focus is on helping you choose the right destinations and travel partners based on how you want to travel.

Do you book airfare?

No, we do not book airfare. Airlines typically work directly with travelers, and managing flights on a client’s behalf can limit flexibility if changes are needed. Clients that book airfare directly with the airline often provides better seat selection options and easier communication should issues arise.

Do you charge a planning fee?

We typically do not charge a planning fee. However, in some cases—such as complex itineraries or trips that involve non-commissionable components—a planning fee may apply. Any applicable fee is discussed upfront once we understand the details of your trip.

Can you help if I already booked part of my trip?

We are unable to assist with trips that have already been booked due to supplier policies and legal limitations. We’re always happy to help with future travel planning and encourage you to reach out when you’re ready to plan your next trip.

Do you price match discounted sites?

No. We book directly through travel suppliers and are not able to price match non-supplier discounts. Our value comes from personalized guidance, experience, and ongoing support—not from competing with online booking engines.

What makes working with a travel advisor different from booking online?

Online booking sites show options. A travel advisor helps you understand which options make sense for your specific trip. We provide insight, guidance, and support so you can plan with confidence and avoid common pitfalls.

How far in advance should I start planning?

Some trips—especially cruises, guided travel, and peak-season vacations—are best planned several months in advance. Other trips can come together more quickly. Starting earlier generally provides more options and flexibility.

Will you handle everything for me?

We guide the planning process and handle bookings within our role, but certain responsibilities—such as online check-in, completing required forms, managing personal travel documents, and booking items that require personal credentials—remain with the traveler. We make sure you understand what’s needed and when.

How do I get started?

The best way to begin is by submitting a trip request form with one of our Advisors. This allows us to learn more about your travel goals and determine how we can best support your plans.

What if I want to talk on the phone about my trip?

You’re welcome to schedule a call with your travel advisor. The trip request form includes an option to indicate whether you’d like to speak by phone. After your trip is booked, you can also request a call if questions come up.
